BSR Ride to ShikshaGram - NakedWolves Group Ride | 2014

BSR - Bikers' Social Responsibility is an unique first ever initiative by Naked Wolves. We generally visit an orphanage, where "We" means all the Pan-India chapters of Naked Wolves, and try and do something for the kids. This was the second time we gathered up for the ride as one brotherhood. Our Mangalore brothers had already done it last weekend.

After a lot of arrangements, we started off on Sunday, 21st September. It was decided that we would be moving out from Pune at around 8AM whereas our Mumbai counterpart had moved out at around 6AM. The place SikshanGram Shelter for Children, Lonavala was much nearer to Pune, than Mumbai. Our chapter is actually a twin-city group where NSians from Mumbai and Pune call their own.

It was sharp 0800Hrs when we started from Somatne Phata, Pune. We reached Malavli way before our counterpart arrived. Waiting for around an hour, we entertained ourselves with Bisleri's Urzza and vadapavs and pohas. We were around 7ish bikers from Pune and around 35ish bikers from Mumbai. After a short break at Malavli phata for breakfast, we continued towards our destination.

A few gravelious distance via a treacherous trail lead to SikshanGram. It was a great warm welcome by all the small kids. We parked the bikes and went in. After a small round of various performances by the kids, we all gave our intro. 2 of our members sang beautifully.

Finally it was time for lunch and we were busy in our group meeting. After urging the kids to have their lunch, we went on at last to have lunch, with the admins having food in the very admins. A trait of true leaders they are I must say. The food was very fulfilling and satisfying.

We still hadn't met with one guy here at SikshanGram till then, the rare breed brown coated Labrador, named Tuffy. A very friendly guy and every single one of us had a great time adoring Tuffy. A few of us had a discussion with the management of SikshanGram while most of us got busy in chitchatting a bit with the kids.

After sometime, it was time for us to give the kids a ride on our bikes. Nearly all of us including a few of the leaders were giving the kids a good time on bikes. Around an hour later, we stopped for a group photo.
A few of us had gone for off-roading and a few more on trekking on the trail behind and when I saw the trail, it was really good. I would had gone, but didn't want to slushify the polish I did on my bike personally 2 days back after a no-wash period lasting more than 6 months :P Don't even start to think how much mud and slush it was covered with at the rate of my touring around :D :D

We bade goodbyes to our new friends at the SikshanGram. The treacherous trail now felt much easier to cross over. We again stopped over at Malavli phata. Had a tiny incident over here. while parking the bike, I reversed it a bit too much landing into the low land behind. Thanks for the help for bringing it back on road.

A small tea break followed with goodbyes to the Mumbai clan, the Puneri junta took off for Pune. It was nothing more than a half hour ride back to the comfort of our homes retiring with an unforgettable memory of the day but the promise of returning with more help again for these small angels still stand resolute.
